Another local team?????

I was caught off guard this week.

Seriously.

In my recent quest to just ride the bike...I have become anti affiliated with anything that resembles a "team" of cyclists (other than someone who offers up a post ride brew).

Then I hear some dudes rumbling about another local cycling organization/club/team/yahoo group/blah blah blah.

It's the same start up talk too....let's get jerseys, do a race, have a team, do a website, etc.

Off the top of my head I can think of 5 or 6 local "teams" that populate Mobile and Baldwin counties. Each of these teams have their pro's and con's.

I, for one, am going to pass on it though.

Any more feelings of righteous indignation by local groups and all that goes with it will likely send me off on a killing spree of epic proportions.

Are you counting the team from Gulf Shores?

do you remember the "azeala city cyclists", that is the original Mobile team. I have been a member since 87 and haven't ridden in a group ride since Greg won his last tour. I ride a lugged steel frame and I am patiently waiting on my new Vanilla bike. I figure by the time it comes in (5 year wait) I will not have to deal with the local group, they will have moved on to the next fad in outdoor activities. ie; triathlon kayaking, triathlon golf, duathlon fishing and the many other sports you can be mediocre in and combine. So, in about five years I will join the local group ride (there is nothing in this town that comes close to resembling a peloton)once again with my new Vanilla and I am sure that the faces out there today will not be there in 5.

hey new guy, I will stomp you on any ride with my steel frame. You are probably one the guys that shows up with carbon wheels and a solid rear disc for a group ride.
